Sign Language

I remember it was the third grade, everyday my teacher, Mrs. Anderson would ask us what we were going to have for lunch, option A, B, or C and we would answer in sign language.  I remember learning this special alphabet long ago, that we use to use everyday to try and be cool.  We learned about Helen Kellar and what it meant to be deaf or blind, or tragically, both. Now don't get me wrong, I can't have a full on conversation with someone, but back then, I use to be pretty good at the alphabet.  In case you've forgotten here is a visual of all 26 letters in sign langauge:
Here is a rare video of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, describing the way they began to communicate.

Extraordinary video folks--appreciate your voice and respect your ears! Trust me, it's important enough!

Here are some other phrases you might want to practice

Now, if you haven't The Miracle Worker in grade school or middle school, please take the time to watch it. Here's Part I
I've recently seen the act of signing in the main stream, in music videos especially. I personally am not offended by this, because I love to see signing whenever I can.

Weezy F.Baby, please say the baby!!! Here's Leather So Soft.  Girl gets in on the signing!

Here's a video for Sia called Soon We'll Be Found which shows a pleasant display of signing.  Also, check out the rest of her album, it's a smash!

Infrared Photography

Infrared photography uses filters to block out and enhance certain colors in the visual spectrum, creating surreal, dreamlike images with a lurid appearance known as the "Wood Effect". The technique dates back to the early 1900s, first appearing in the October 1910 edition of the Royal Photographic Society Journal to illustrate a paper by Robert W. Wood, who discovered these unusual affects (which were named after him). The attributes of infrared photos include very dark skies and an atmospheric haze. Check out these gnarly infrareds below!

Throwback Go-Back! Gisele Bundchen for Versace, Vanity Fair

I know 2008 wasn't very long ago, but in two short years a lot has changed in the world of advertising and in the world of Gisele Bundchen--she got married, had a baby and made more than $150 million!

I've had these ads from Versace's Spring/Summer 2008 ad campaign on my computer since 2008 and still look through them almost every time I'm in my Pictures folder.  I love the bright bold colors and the consistency of the photo shoot.  It may seem to be taboo to wear orange from head to toe, but Gisele does it so well!

Check out Gisele in this steamy issue of Vanity Fair from May 2009, right after she got married to NFL quarterback Tom Brady.  The sexy new bride was shot nearly nude in the Plaza, NYC.  Click here to read the full article in Vanity Fair.

Vogue China October 2009

Thanks to my lovely fashion friend Sheena, over at Phantasmagoric Fashion and her post on Coach's new Blogger designed quartet of bags, I was introduced to Karla and her blog Karla's Closet.  I have to give this girl props on her mad style and crazy sick collection of  blazers and jackets.  She's young in age but has such a classic taste-with a chic twist!-that makes me smile:)

Here is a spread from Vogue China of October 2009 that she posted. I love the side swept hair, deep crimson lips and strong body language throughout.  Thanks Karla and Sheena!

I was telling you about Karla's mad jacket game earlier.  I decided to pull a few of my favorites from her blog and post them. Here's a snippet of her collection of blazers and jackets. Enjoy!
P.S. Love the dimples!
